Accessibility
The standard we hold this site to, where we know it falls short, and how to tell us.
Last updated August 2026
This states the accessibility standard we hold this site to — WCAG 2.1 Level AA — and says plainly where we know we are not fully there yet, such as PDF tagging and some longer diagram descriptions. It covers xonik.com. It does not cover third-party services we link to, which have their own accessibility statements, and it does not use an overlay widget, which we consider counter-productive rather than simply absent.
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is a claim we can be held to, so here is what it means in practice — and where we know we are not there yet.
What is in place
- Every diagram carries a written description of what it shows, not a filename.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Text contrast meets AA against every background used on the site.
- The whole site is usable by keyboard, and the focus indicator is always visible.
- Motion respects the reduced-motion setting, and nothing depends on animation to be readable.
- Headings run in order and the page structure is real, rather than text styled to look like structure.
- Navigation menus announce their state to a screen reader and close on Escape.
- Form fields have labels rather than placeholder text standing in for one.
Where we know we fall short
Stating this is more useful than a clean claim, because you can plan around a known gap:
- Some diagrams convey a relationship that one sentence of alternative text describes only approximately. Longer descriptions are being written.
- PDFs we publish are not yet fully tagged. Until they are, the same material is available as a web page — ask and we will send it.
- The site has not been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser. It has been tested with VoiceOver and with keyboard-only navigation.
What we do not do
There is no accessibility overlay widget on this site. Those tools tend to make things worse for the people who need them most, and they exist mainly to let a site claim compliance without doing the work.
Telling us about a problem
If something here does not work for you, email us and describe what happened. You do not need to know the technical name for the problem. We will fix it and tell you when it is fixed.
We aim to acknowledge within two working days and to fix anything that blocks access within ten. Where a fix will take longer, we will say so and tell you what we are doing in the meantime.
Standard and scope
This statement applies to xonik.com. It does not cover third-party services we link to, which have their own accessibility statements.

This statement covers xonik.com and does not cover third-party services we link to, which publish their own accessibility statements. It does not claim the site has been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser — it has been tested with VoiceOver and keyboard-only navigation. And there is deliberately no accessibility overlay here; those tools tend to make things worse for the people who need them most.
Questions we get asked
